Makar Sankranti falls on 15th Jan every year. In Kumbha Mela beginning of taking donations has been started from this day. As per customs pilgrims takes donate as per their will.
Makar Sankranti is related to Surya (sun).it is an ancient Indian festival. it almost always falls on the same date every year. Makara Sankranti is considered very important for spiritual practices and accordingly, people take a shahi snaans in rivers, especially Ganga, Yamuna, Godavari, Krishna and Kaveri. The bathing is believed to result in merit and absolution of past sins. On this day pilgrims also pray to the sun and thank for their successes and prosperity.
On this day Hindus of various parts of India is making sticky, bound sweets particularly from sesame or til and a sugar base such as jaggery. This is the time when people socialize and celebrate this festival with their families and take holy dips in different holy ghats during Kumbh Mela.

Paush Poornima is the 15th day in the month of Shukla Paksha of the Hindu calendar month Paush. In this year Paush Poornima falls on 21st January. Poornima signifies the rise of the full
moon. Paush Poornima is unofficial beginning of Kumbh Mela and has a lot of importance for shahi snaan.

Mauni Amavasya held on 4th Feb this year. It is believed that on this date the planetary positions are most favorable for shahi snaans in the holy river. On 4th Feb, first sage Rishabh Dev has broke his long vow of silence and bathed in the holy waters at Sangam. The maximum number of pilgrims are found in the Kumbh Mela on this day.
As per belief when Lord Dhanvantri came out with Sagar Manthan in the form of Amrit Kalash, at that time, the tension started for the nectar in the deities and incarnations started, and after dropping some drops of nectar, Allahabad reached Haridwar Nasik and Ujjain. This is the reason why the bath of Amrit baths is available for bathing in the rivers here. If this date falls on Monday, then the importance of this day increased much more.

Maha Shivratri Hindus festival celebrated annually in honour of God Shiva. It is a major festival in the Hindu religion. On Maha Shivratri peoples chanting prayers and do Fasting for a whole day. They also do Yoga and meditating on ethics and virtues such as self-restraint, honesty, noninjury to others, forgiveness, and the discovery of Shiv Shambu.
